Microcurrent for Pain Resolution: A New Frontier in Energy Medicine

By: Dr. John Haché and Dr. Robert Vanbergen, from Pain Free For Life

What is Microcurrent?

Microcurrent training is a form of energy medicine that taps into the innate electrical nature of the body for healing. The brain, heart, and cells are all electrically active, and electricity is how the cells of the human body communicate. Whether caused by physical or emotional trauma, poor cellular communication can exacerbate and trigger illness and disease. This communication must be corrected to allow long-term healing to occur, and that’s where microcurrent training comes into play. Once available only in professional settings, this healing technology is now accessible to the home user – increasing its popularity amongst those who prefer to take a more holistic approach to address their chronic pain and inflammation.

How Does Microcurrent Work?

As we mentioned, good cellular communication encourages healing. By delivering gentle electrical pulses at a low frequency, typically between 0.5 and 2500 Hz, the patient is able to alter how this communication occurs in the body to promote pain relief and recovery. It’s important to note that the exact same electrical frequencies are found naturally in the human body, making it extremely body-friendly and safe.

Certain microcurrent devices can seamlessly shift from a microcurrent generator to a Scalar Wave generator to a PEMF generator – expanding the patient’s arsenal of energy medicine solutions. PEMFs (or pulsed electromagnetic fields) have been revolutionary in resolving non-healing wounds and can penetrate through solid casts. Because of this, the FDA has approved PEMFs as an effective and safe treatment for nonunions (non-healing) of broken bones. (3)

Microcurrent and Inflammation

Inflammation, the root cause of almost every disease, is an electrochemical event triggered by the body’s immune system in response to abnormal conditions in the tissues. But the problem lies in the fact that inflammation causes the flow of electrical communication in the body to be impeded. Inflammation is not meant to last more than a few days, and when it becomes chronic, pain becomes much more challenging to resolve.

An inflammatory overresponse can be the precursor to chronic disease and pain that can last for years. To resolve pain permanently, this inflammation must be addressed. Only then can blockages in flawed communication flow be eliminated. Because of this, retraining systemic anti-inflammatory through the Vagus Nerve (the 10th cranial nerve) is a highly effective neurofeedback technique that lies at the crux of almost every robust microcurrent protocol we have ever designed.

How Microcurrent Halts the Pain-Brain Connection

If the underlying source of pain and inflammation is never addressed, the brain will be “stuck” on sending pain signals, developing an obsession that can eventually develop into a life-altering issue.

How can we break this obsession? We must first alert the brain to take notice of the root problem. We accomplish this in our clinic with a process called “Dosing and Zeroing.” It’s a form of automated biofeedback performed with a microcurrent generator that signals the brain’s attention to a particular area to show that there is no reason to continue causing pain. This is just the tip of the iceberg when we consider what mind-based medicine (4) is able to accomplish.

Microcurrent Training and The Hache Protocol for Pain Resolution™

Microcurrent training alone is not a “magic bullet” for pain resolution. You must first create an environment in your body that is conducive and welcoming to healing and addressing the root cause of the problem. The Hache Protocol for Pain Resolution™ is our answer to doing just that. In our combined 70+ years of clinical practice, we have seen exactly what it takes to resolve chronic pain without the use of injections, medications, or surgeries, and it boils down to five key points.

We refer to these points as “The Five Pillars of The Hache Protocol™,” and they include:

  1. Stress reduction
  2. Balanced nutrition
  3. Fitness
  4. Proper sleep
  5. And, finally, microcurrent training

These five elements work synergistically to help stop the pain-brain obsession, halt unnecessary inflammation, and promote long-term pain resolution by addressing the root cause of the problem.

What’s in Store for the Future?

As our culture evolves away from conventional pain resolution techniques that simply aren’t working for large swaths of the population, we believe that energy medicine in the form of microcurrent training stands to take center stage in the noble fight toward a pain-free future.
